Content Area Literacy CD-ROM Basic instructions for installing and using the CD-ROM are available in the Appendix A (pp. 297-302) of Content Area Literacy: An Integrated Approach 8th Edition. The CD-ROM is a duel platform product that requires a PC with 64 MB RAM or Power MacintoshTM with 120 MHz. The CD consists of PDF files as well as audio and video clips. The PDF files are the various readings that supplement each chapter in the book. Your computer will need Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM 3.0 or 4.0, QuickTimeTM 4.0, and speakers to access all the contents of the CD. If you have Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM but not QuickTimeTM you should still be able to access the readings, but you will not be able to view the video clips. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM, you can install it directly from the CD by clicking on "Install Reader" and following the directions. To install QuickTimeTM : Open the Content Area Literacy CD-ROM and double click on the folder "Download QuickTimeTM " Double click on your Web browser (Explorer or Netscape). Double click on "QuickTimeTM Download". This will automatically open your browser to the "Get QuickTimeTM " page. Type in the requested information. Only your e-mail address is required. (Click on the boxes for Apple eNews or QuickTimeTM News only if you want to receive e-mail updates on products and promotions.) Select your operating system (Macintosh or Windows). Select your language (usually English US). Then click on "Download QuickTimeTM ". On the file download screen select "Save file to disk". Select "OK". (Save to Desktop as file name "QuickTimeTM Installer" and as type ".zipDocument".) QuickTimeTM will automatically be installed on your computer.
