About the Authors
Both authors are Professors in the Department of Management and Organizations at the University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie College of Business. They have received numerous awards while teaching thousands of undergraduate and graduate students in negotiation, management, business law, and conflict management.
Professor Lon Moeller worked in private law practice before joining the faculty at the University. He has served as a University Ombudsperson and has conducted ethics, strategic planning and conflict resolution training for corporate and nonprofit clients. He is also a labor arbitrator appointed to several state and national arbitration panels and has mediated employment discrimination and labor-management disputes.
Professor Jay Christensen-Szalanski has a doctorate in psychology and a masters degree in public health. He is also a certified mediator and has given numerous workshops on managing conflict. He has twenty years of experience as a manager in business, medical care, and education. He has authored numerous scholarly articles that examine how people think and make decisions, and ways to improve patient satisfaction with health care.
