Project M³ : Mentoring Mathematical Minds is a research-based mathematics program for gifted and talented students in grades 3, 4, and 5.
Combining the NCTM Content and Process Standards (2000), Project M³ 's increased depth, complexity, and best practices in the field of gifted and talented curriculum development has created the type of mathematics that is both challenging and enjoyable for talented math students.
- Challenging and motivational curriculum units for talented students Increase math achievement and improve attitudes toward math in talented and diverse students
- Incorporates the NCTM Content Standards and Exemplary Practices in Gifted Education recommended by NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children)
- 12 units of mathematics (4 units per grade level) based on NCTM Content Standards for grades 3, 4, and 5
- Emphasis on mathematical discourse within the classroom
- Emphasis on problem solving and spirit of inquiry
Manipulatives are a necessary part of creating a successful learning experience for students. Kits are available for some curriculum units. A master list of materials for each unit is included in the Teacher Guide.
Another unique feature of Project M³ is the teacher stamp and ink pad used for teacher feedback in grading student journal work. It is based on a rubric designed to score students on concepts, communication, and vocabulary.
