Dr. Seimears joined Eastern Oregon University as Dean of the College of Education on July 1, 2019, and he is currently serving as the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Matt brings more than 24 years of instructional and administrative experience to EOU. He served as a Professor of STEM and Science Education and the Department and Associate Chair of the Elementary Education/Early Childhood Unified/Special Education Department at Emporia State University in Kansas. Dr. Seimears has experience in AAQEP/CAEP accreditation, planning, and assessment, faculty evaluation, strategic goal setting, external journal editing, and STEM lab management. He created a robotics competition for pre-service and in-service teacher networks in 22 USD's in Kansas and national STEM industry partnerships. He has received 5.6 million in external grants throughout his career, including a recent NSF STEM rural agricultural grant. His vision is to assist with growing teacher frameworks in the state of Oregon and help ESD's and SDs create a network to help children with Trauma, providing a robust Resilience training partnership for everyone.
